MG Electrical

Our Projects

From specialised high voltage infrastructure in the heart of Darwin to critical power distribution for the mining and defence sectors, MG Electrical delivers excellence in the Territory’s most challenging environments.

Gove Solar Farm 1 & 2 | Grid Connection

Overview: Supporting the transition to renewable energy through the integration of the Gove Solar Farm into the local grid.

Project Scope: MG Electrical managed the installation of 22 KV overhead feeders 22KV pole mounted switchgear and extensive underground HV cabling. This project demonstrates our dual expertise in both civil and electrical works, ensuring a seamless connection from renewable generation to the network.

132 KV Transmission Upgrade | Marlow Lagoon

Overview: A major structural and electrical overhaul involving the transition from legacy infrastructure to modern distribution assets.

Project Scope: We successfully replaced aging 132 KV lattice towers with dual-circuit 66 KV/132 KV monopoles. The works included the installation of deep foundations and a new 66 KV feeder, showcasing our specialised monopole installation capabilities.

Specialised Oil Filtration | Groote Eylandt (South 32)

Overview: Technical maintenance services for high-value assets at the South 32 mining operations.

Project Scope: Our team performed specialised moisture count reduction and oil filtration for a 10 MVA 33 KV/3.3 KV transformer. By restoring oil quality, we helped the client overcome moisture-related challenges, High DCA’s, increase BDV and extend the operational life of their critical equipment.

Owen Springs to Pine Gap | Sub-Transmission Feeder

Overview: A significant 10 km infrastructure project supporting the infrastructure requirements of the Pine Gap Defence Base.

Project Scope: MG Electrical installed a 66 KV single-circuit sub-transmission feeder spanning from the Owen Springs Power Station to the Defence Base. This project highlights our capacity for project delivery in remote and high-security environments.

132 KV Cable Installation | C.I.P.S

Overview: High voltage cable system upgrade and replacement for enhanced network reliability.

Project Scope: The project involved the upgrade and replacement of four sets of 132 KV cables, connecting 132 KV transformers directly to GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear). This technical installation reflects our 40+ years of experience in managing high voltage transmission components.
